Affiliate Director: (1 Opening)
It has been both an honor and a lot of fun for me to be a part of RSAR. My background consists of over 14 years in the real estate industry as an affiliate of 4 different real estate associations in 2 States (NV and AZ). In the past I have served as committee chairperson and vice-chair person, including the 2017 chairperson for the RSAR Events Committee. I was also named RSAR's Affiliate of the Year for 2017. I would love to continue my volunteer service at RSAR as the Affiliate Director in 2019.
On a personal note I am happily married to my high-school sweetheart Lindsey and we have 2 children - Mia and Dexter. We love Reno, especially all the fun summer events each year. When winter arrives, I spend as much time as I can snowboarding at Mt. Rose.
As the current Affiliate Director, I have been privileged to represent the many partners that support our local real estate market, and I am excited to pursue another term on the RSAR Board of Directors. I have been with Greater Nevada Mortgage for over 14 years, and during that time, have consistently sought to support and improve homeownership in our Nevada communities. Whether it is my time on the State of Nevada Advisory Committee on Housing or as a Board of Director for Home Means Nevada, I have had the opportunity to bring tangible insight, advocacy, and results that have benefited our great State. I was also recently recognized by the California-Nevada Credit Union League as the Advocate of the Year for work done during the 2017 Nevada State Legislature. From local advocacy to national industry engagement, serving is a passion of mine, and I look forward to your support.
Fernley Director: (1 Opening)
Mary N. Shannon
I have been a licensed REALTOR® and Reno Sparks Association of REALTORS® MEMBER SINCE 1997. Recently I’ve been active in bringing buyers to TRIC and the Fernley/Silver Springs area. My specialty is investor and commercial offerings. Fernley has still remained somewhat in the past and would benefit from the programs and guidance offered by RSAR. Homesnap is a good example. In addition to my real estate sale experience I also manage a family invest portfolio of 11 homes which require organization and diplomacy. I’m a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley and I worked in international engineering in the Bay Area before moving to N. Nevada to start a new career in the real estate field.
I have been a member of the Reno Spark Association of REALTORS® since receiving my real estate license in 2011. My broker, Ed Phillips, is currently serving as Fernley Director and asked me if I would be interested. After deliberating, I have decided to submit my application.
Currently, my primary focus is real estate. Serving RSAR and being Fernley Director is a good fit with my commitment.
If accepted, I will listen to the current RSAR Board of Directors and will dedicate myself to having this be a positive experience for all of us.
Director: (2 Openings)
My name is Rian Haag, I have had the pleasure of serving the last 2 years on the Board of Directors and several committee’s within the Reno Sparks Association of REALTORS®. I currently serve on the National Steering Committee for Women’s Council of REALTORS®, Leadership Council for NAGLREP, and currently in the Nevada Realtors Leadership Program and Class for 2018. I am also the immediate past president of Women’s Council of REALTORS® Northern Nevada and running for 2019 State Governor for Women’s Council of REALTORS®. I plan to continue to bring an exceptional level of versatility, knowledge, positive energy, excitement and ideas to the association as we continue to provide value to our members, future members and the overall success of our local association as we grow.
I am A.J. Palomar and I’ve been a REALTOR® for 5 years. Since I have been a REALTOR® I have learned the hardest and the most profound lessons about myself. It’s an exciting time to be an agent. Never has the market had so much access to all the same info we have, creating millions of “experts” who can present never before heard of challenges to overcome. There has never been a time in our history that we have worked with such a diverse population from near and far; all walks of lives and passions. Yet, its in these exact moments we are given a chance to shine, to exemplify why we do the jobs we do with such passion.
Some of my qualifications to run for this position are as follows: I am the 2018 Founding Chapter President NAGLREP N. NV, and current member of the RSAR Legislative Committee.
If I am fortunate enough to be selected to serve as a director, I will strive to be a voice for our diverse and growing membership. I want to be a part of the evolution of our board; to help foster a diverse and welcoming future for all our members today and those to come.
I live in the Reno/Sparks area and happily married for 18 years with 2 teenagers. I sold a previous business and started my career in lending in 2004 earning multiple awards including Top Producer, Top Sales, and Million Dollar Club. In 2010 as Broker of California I went into the residential sales. Since this time, I have sold hundreds of properties in residential, commercial, land transactions along with written hundreds of commercial and residential leases. In Jan 2015 we expanded our brokerage, ecstatically making Reno our home.
Along with obtaining 10 additional certifications, I have earned the Masters club several times, authored a book about the top 25 rules to selling real estate in this era, and in Oct of 2015 put our marketing knowledge to the task, earning an International Real Estate Marketing Award. I am a principle and owner of both Encore Real Estate Group and Raynor Real Estate or otherwise known as the guy with the wrapped Hummer. I love our industry having trained agents throughout the country and have a desire to give back and help our community and industry.
I have been involved in RSAR since joining in 1976. My broker said “get involved” so I did. I care passionately about the organization and its people and, most importantly, how decisions made by the Board of REALTORS® have significant impacts on the real estate business and the agents who make up our membership. As a very “practicing” broker I see the challenges that our Professionals face, and with my long memory, how Board decisions can direct the future.
I am convinced that without care and vigilance our associates can be minimized out of the center of the transaction leaving the public unrepresented and us out of our business.
I care and I want to stay involved. I have been accused of having REALTOR® Blue blood. It’s probably true. Please vote for me.
